Divorce Requirements In Michigan 
1) In order to file for divorce in Michigan, you or your spouse must have been a resident of State of Michigan for at least 180 days, and you must have resided in the county where the divorce complaint was filed for at least ten days prior to filing and; 

2) There has been a breakdown in the marriage relationship to the extent that the objects of matrimony have been destroyed and there remains no reasonable likelihood that the marriage can be preserved. 

The Timelines and Time-Limits in a Michigan Divorce
Michigan has a waiting period after filing for divorce.  A divorce without minor children may be granted after 60 days from the date of filing. A divorce with minor children may be granted after six months from the date of filing. The court can short or waive the time period.

Before you file for an uncontested divorce, you must have resolved all the issues in your divorce, including division of property and debts, alimony, child custody, child support and any other financial issues.

To do this, you and your spouse must be willing to be honest with each other, especially when it comes to finances.
